Unfolding Brompton: Discover The Range

Having been around since 1975, Brompton has established itself as a hallmark of British engineering and is synonymous with the folding bike genre – and they’re still built right here in the UK! Known for their high quality and versatility, Brompton bikes have always been a popular choice for city commuters, and we’re proud to say that Hoops Velo is now a Brompton stockist.

Brompton’s range includes five lines: A Line, C Line, Electric C Line, P Line, and T Line. Each line offers a different set of features and options, catering to different budgets and making it easy for customers to find the perfect Brompton for their needs.

A Line

The A Line is the most affordable and budget-friendly option in the new lineup. It's a great introduction to the world of Brompton if you've never tried one before, coming in a glossy white colour, with a 3-speed hub gear for low maintenance. It features 'Mid' bars with a riser shape for a comfortable riding position. However, it doesn't come with mudguards, rack or folding pedal but is compatible with them, which can be added at a later date.

C Line

The C Line is the classic Brompton: versatile and built to last. Available in 13 unique colours, all C Lines come with mudguards, a carrier block, and folding pedal. Dynamo or battery lighting is also an optional extra. The C Line offers Low, Mid or High bars and is available in 3 main gearing options:

Urban (2-speed)

The lightest option of the three, fitted with a single gear lever to keep things nice and simple. Ideal for flat areas.

Utility (3-speed)

The internal hub gear system requires little to no maintenance, tucked away safe from the elements. This also means it can shift gears when stationary, perfect for all weather commutes and stop-start traffic.

Explore (6-speed)

Venturing out of the city? The Explore is geared to get up hills, ideal for mixing things up day to day. Combining the two systems offers maximum gear range while maintaining simplicity and reliability.

Electric C Line

The Electric C Line is the C Line with the added benefit of electric assist. It maintains the same classic aesthetic as the C Line, but comes with mudguards, a dynamo, battery, folding pedal, and 6-speed gearing. The detachable battery makes charging simple and offers 3 levels of assistance with a range of between 25-50 miles at speeds of up to 15.5mph.

P Line

The P Line replaces the 'Superlight' model from the previous lineup. It features a steel frame with a titanium fork & rear triangle rather than steel, resulting in a significant weight saving of 2kg over the C line. The P Line features Brompton’s latest 4-speed gearing, utilising a cassette and a redesigned lightweight derailleur that fits within the compact fold. It also comes with new wheels that are lighter and sturdier, as well as a new seatpost that is lockable at 2 points: fully down or halfway for rolling. The P Line is equipped with mudguards and offers low, mid or high bars.

T Line

The T Line is the latest model in the Brompton roster, designed to be their showstopper. It features a completely redesigned, fully titanium frame with a carbon fork, boasting a claimed weight of just 7.45kg off the shelf (2kg lighter than P Line) yet just as strong. Sticking with the brand's heritage, the frame is manufactured entirely in the UK (Sheffield) and comes decked out with an assortment of carbon components: seatpost (reinforced with steel), bars, cranks. The T Line comes in 2 gearing options:

Urban (4-speed)

This uses the previously-mentioned all-new cassette and derailleur system, and comes fitted with mudguards for year-round riding.

One (Single-speed)

The lightest Brompton of them all, utilising a single-speed setup to keep weight to a minimum. Simple to use and super light, this is perfect for day-to-day riding.
